How much does it cost to ferry an airplane?

Settle Ferry Group quotes ferry work as a pilot day rate plus the trip's expenses. The day rate covers the pilot for each day the trip takes, and it is higher for a twin engine airplane than a single. Days, not flight hours, are the unit because weather and daylight decide how long a trip really runs. An airplane held on the ground for a front still costs a day. The expenses sit on top: fuel, which scales with the engine, the distance and the price at each stop; landing, parking and handling fees, which vary widely by airport; lodging and meals on multi-day trips; and the pilot's airline travel to reach your airplane and get home after delivery. Two trips of the same distance can price very differently. Send the tail number and both airports, and the quote comes back itemized so you can see where every dollar goes.

What is insurance transition training?

Insurance transition training is dual instruction that an aviation insurance company requires before a pilot flies a newly acquired airplane without an instructor on board. Underwriters use it to manage risk when a pilot moves into an airplane that is faster, heavier, more complex or simply unfamiliar. The requirement usually appears in the policy as a set number of hours with a certificated flight instructor in the specific make and model, and sometimes it adds a number of takeoffs and landings or a period before carrying passengers. The training itself covers the airplane's systems, normal and emergency procedures, performance planning, and the avionics installed in that particular panel. It is different from a flight review or an endorsement, although some of the same ground can overlap. Settle Ferry Group can fly this training during a delivery, so the hours the airplane spends traveling to its new home airport can also count toward the requirement your policy sets.
